Crush of the Week: Autumn Reeser

This week's Crush is actress Autumn Reeser, lately of "No Ordinary Family". The show has its faults, but largely I'm digging it.

Her adorable comic book geek character on "No Ordinary Family" is a far cry from the upwardly mobile Hollywood agent she played on "Entourage". Range!

Crush of the Week: Sarah Shahi

This week's Crush is actress Sarah Shahi, lately the lead on Fairly Legal. Honestly, I find her strikingly beautiful.

The show itself is nothing new - She's a lawyer-turned-mediator who solves everyone's problems but her own. And she lives on a boat. She's so quirky! - or all that special, but Shahi can really fill out a business suit and the show's light enough for background noise. So I'll keep watching for a few more episodes.

You choose the Crush of the Year

Lately I've been pretty busy with compiling my "Best Ofs" for movies, music, TV, etc. and those lists should be popping up here shortly. But there's one area where the choice of the year's perfection is out of my hands. Once again, I'll turn the selection of the Crush of the Year over to you, dear reader. After all, the consensus picks in previous years have been great. (You folks did a fine job last year given the tough choices.)

The rules:
1) Vote by leaving the name of your pick in the comment section of this post (either on Blogger or Facebook). No votes via e-mail, text, phone, different posts' comments sections, or other methods will be counted. I do this so that there'll be a virtual paper trail of people's clear intentions. No hanging chads around here.
2) No justification of your choice is required, but if you want to explain why you opted for a particular candidate, feel free to do so.
3) No write-ins.
4) You may only vote once regardless of location (that means no voting on both Blogger and Facebook).
5) Only the candidates listed below are eligible to win.
6) Should no Crush receive a plurality/majority of the votes, I shall choose the CotY. In fact, I reserve the right to lay down my tyrannical fist and institute my own pick, no matter the voting results. But I probably won't. But you never know.
7) Void where prohibited. (Likely Utah.)
8) Voting ends when this post leaves the front page of the blog or two weeks from the exact time and date of this post, whichever comes first.

Finally, your candidates for 2010 Crush of the Year:So there you go. Pester your friends, rally the civic organizations that you're a member of, and organize your congregation. You really don't want Diddy on your bad side.

Bonus Crush of the Week: Rebecca Hazlewood

This week's Bonus Crush is actress Rebecca Hazlewood, lately of "Outsourced". Really, she's the best part of that show.

"Outsourced" isn't as terrible as everyone says, but it's not all that great, either. Basically, for me it acts as a bridge from "The Office" to "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". I'm eagerly awaiting the return of "Parks and Recreation", which should've never been banished from the fall in the first place.

Crush of the Week: Annie Little

This week's Crush is actress and musician Annie Little. You likely know her as the star of the Kindle commercials, the music for which was provided by her duo Little & Ashley. She's also in a couple of holiday Marshalls/T.J. Maxx commercials that seem to air during every other commercial break, not that I'm complaining.

I can't recommend Little & Ashley's Christmas EP Winter Night highly enough. It hasn't left my iPod all season. (Their Kindle commercial music's great, too.)

Bonus Crush of the Week: Keri Russell

This week's Bonus Crush is actress Keri Russell, lately of the recently canned "Running Wilde". She'll always be Elliot's sorority sister on "Scrubs" to me, though.

Hey, I liked "Running Wilde". It was no "Arrested Development", but how could the brilliance of that show be duplicated?

Crush of the Week: Belinda Stewart-Wilson

This week's Crush is actress Belinda Stewart-Wilson, who was in the late and dearly missed "The Inbetweeners".

Will's mom is fit!

Crush of the Week: Katie Aselton

This week's Crush is actress (and onetime Miss Maine Teen) Katie Aselton, who more than holds her own against the guys in "The League".

Man, I love that show. I'm inside me!

Crush of the Week: Laura Allen

This week's Crush is actress Laura Allen of the unfortunately named new show "Terriers". Love those eyes.

It's only been on for two weeks, but I'm really digging "Terriers", so far. Too bad no one else is watching. At least it's on cable, so it won't be permanently yanked after three episodes. *cough*ABCNBCFOXCBS*cough*

Bonus Crush of the Week: Rachel from "Big Brother 12"

This week's Bonus Crush is "Big Brother 12" contestant Rachel. Well, make that former contestant, since she got voted out of the house last night.

Her voice and laugh are annoying. Her "showmance" (ugh!) is annoying. She is annoying. But remember that one episode of "Seinfeld" where Jerry is simultaneously attracted to and repulsed by a woman he's dating and imagines his brain and penis engaged in a game of chess? Yeah, it's kind of like that.

Crush of the Week: Britney from "Big Brother 12"

This week's Crush is "Big Brother 12" contestant Britney. I despise reality TV, but this show is my one guilty pleasure.

Sure, she comes off as childish and spoiled, but her sarcastic comments and faces can be pretty funny. Plus, she's got that whole Southern belle thing going on.

Crush of the Week: Elizabeth Cook

This week's Crush is country singer/songwriter Elizabeth Cook, whose song "El Camino" I put on my summer mix this year.

Her latest album Welder is a good listen. The great thing about Cook is that she's slick enough for the Power Country crowd (ugh!), but twangy and crass enough to hang with the Outlaw Country boys.

Bonus Crush of the Week: Sara Watkins

This week's Bonus Crush is singer/fiddler Sara Watkins.

Recently I was introduced to her when she performed on a live Nerdist podcast. Instantly I was smitten with her and her music.

Crush of the Week: Mary-Louise Parker

This week's Crush is actress Mary-Louise Parker of "Weeds". To paraphrase Dieter, she is beautiful and angular and, if she were a gas, she'd be inert.

I just discovered "Weeds" this week. Despite my strong aversion to adorable moppets who talk like hip adults and recognizing the fact that each season is more ridiculous than the last, I'm loving it (especially Kevin Nealon as "Councilman Doug"). How else would you explain me plowing through four seasons in a week?

Crush of the Week: Lucia Micarelli

This week's Crush is violinist/actress Lucia Micarelli, lately of "Treme". She is truly beautiful AND talented.

What her character saw in that abusive junkie Dutchman, I'll never know.

Crush of the Week: Kate Nash

This week's Crush is singer/songwriter Kate Nash. And she's quite the crumpet.

Her new album My Best Friend Is You is okay, but it didn't immediately grab me like her wonderful Made of Bricks.

Thursday, April 01, 2010

Crush of the Week: Nancy Pelosi

This week's Crush is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Her power and natural beauty - and that fact that she's not the least bit smug or annoying - made her choice a no-brainer.

April Fossor!

Bonus Crush of the Week: Anna Semenovich

This week's Bonus Crush is Russian former figure skater and current pop singer/actress/model Anna Semenovich*. Yowza!

How about a song?

(link)

I miss the Winter Olympics.

*Or, if you can read Russian (*cough*SBN1*cough*), go here.

Crush of the Week: S.E. Cupp

This week's Crush is columnist/author/pundit S.E. Cupp, who keeps a pretty funny online diary over at the Daily Caller.

Yep, she's got it all.

Bonus Crush of the Week: Kiira Korpi

This week's Bonus Crush is Finnish Olympic figure skater Kiira Korpi. I don't really follow her sport, but I'm a big fan of hers.

Finland, Finland, Finland, it's the country for me.
