"Yipeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!"

That is what I exclaimed in my head while I was given a tour of my new health club today. You see, for Phase 4 of The Cleansing I received a gym membership for my birthday from my parents. And the gym I joined? The (relatively) brand new health center at my alma mater. Being a "young grad" (yeah, right), I got a pretty decent rate. And yes, the facilities are great. But you should see the slew of co-eds that were hitting the bank of elliptical machines en masse. Dear sweet Lord. Impure thoughts galore.

You ever get the feeling that you need to hit the gym before you actually, you know, hit the gym?

MW Fall TV Preview

Well, there really is no fall TV preview because, after looking over the networks' schedules, nothing really jumps out at me. There's also my reluctance to give new shows a chance (see last season's rant here). If something interesting sticks, though, I'll be hitting the torrents in a couple of months to catch up.

Besides, there's way too many quality shows returning for me to open up my schedule: "The Office", "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", "Heroes", "30 Rock", "Scrubs", "My Name Is Earl", "South Park", "Dexter", "Curb Your Enthusiasm", "Family Guy", "King of the Hill", "The Simpsons", "American Dad", "The Sarah Silverman Program", college football, the World Series, the occasional John Stossel special...

I think I watch too much television.

Crush of the Week: Melora Hardin

This week's Crush is actress Melora Hardin, who plays Jan on "The Office". I cannot wait until it (and her) returns this week.

In addition to being attractive and funny, she's also a pretty good singer.

Sunny day

Tonight's first episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia": "Dennis and Dee's Mom Is Dead"

Barbara's sudden death has a profound impact on her surviving family. Frank and Dee are furious at being left out of the will and team up to seek revenge on the dead woman. For Dennis, the thrill of inheriting his mother's stately mansion is tempered by the realization that he, Mac, and Charlie are friendless and destined to die lonely and forgotten... unless they meet new friends. The only problem is that they don't quite know how to make friends.

The second episode: "The Gang Gets Held Hostage"

The McPoyle brothers and sister Margaret take the gang hostage at Paddy's, raising the stakes to a new level in the feud between the two groups. Frank, who is up in the bar's ventilation system tracking down his will, may be their one hope for survival.

Discuss.

Sea Captian: Arr, I hate the sea and everything in it.

Yeah, yeah, technically he's a Sea Captain, but he talks like a pirate.

Don't tase me, bro...

...but you can now add me to your Facebook friends list. Spydrz convinced me to join and I got it all set up last night. I expected it to be like MySpace, but where is the flood of friend requests featuring pictures of women that would have nothing to do with me in real life?

My one gripe (so far): just because I no longer have an official school e-mail address, I can't be linked to the University of Richmond (my alma mater) network. What up wit dat?

Anyway, I'm there if you want to boost your friend count or whatever. If you don't know my last name, shoot me an e-mail.

Obligatory pimping: I'm also on MySpace and last.fm

The worst beer that I never had

I guess it'd go well with some klau kalash.

While I was shopping this weekend I saw a new beer: Budweiser Chelada. And then I left the aisle feeling disgusted. Mmmmm...the rich smoothness of Budweiser combined with the pleasing shellfishity of Clamato juice.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

My autumn indulgence

The Cleansing has moved into Phase 3 (no white flour or sugar) and it's going rather well, but this time of year brings my Kryptonite: pumpkin flavored foods and beverages. For instance, this week I had a pumpkin ale (and it wasn't a light beer). There are several varities of pumpkin beers in the store and I want to try them all. And I will.

Also, last night I bought some International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice coffee creamer. Life is just too short deprive yourself of that. And since I don't drink coffee during the week, my weekend treat is that more special. Last Christmas's Starbucks gift card has remained unused solely because their seasonal pumpkin coffee hasn't been on their menu. But it's only a matter of days.

Luckily, I don't think pumpkin spice donuts, ice cream, or pies have made it into the stores just yet.

Crush of the Week: Katrina Bowden

This week's Crush is actress Katrina Bowden, who plays admin assistant (or whatever) Cerie on "30 Rock". She is also the second most attractive woman on the show.

The marathon for this weekend is the first season of "30 Rock". So, when I'm not watching college football or shopping for lighter fluid for my new Zippo, I'll be taking in some Tina Fey goodness.

Sunny day

Tonight's first episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia": "The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby"

Dennis joins up with an environmentalist group but his altruistic intentions quickly sour when he's snubbed by the activists. Dee and Mac decide to raise a baby they find in a dumpster but quickly find out that it's not nearly as fun as they thought it would be, and Frank and Charlie take the concept of recycling a bit too far.

The second episode: "The Gang Gets Invincible"

When the Philadelphia Eagles hold open try-outs a la the movie Invincible, Mac, Dennis, and Dee use the event for their own personal competition, while Frank and Charlie tailgate the try-outs and have an altercation with the McPoyles.

Make yourself a Grilled Charlie and enjoy.

Ask Professor Micah

Work is kinda boring, so I thought that I'd begin a new feature here at Micah World: Ask Prof. Micah

Go ahead. Ask me anything. I'll try to answer honestly and to the best of my knowledge*. My personal happenings/history, relationship advice, grooming tips, financial help, sports predictions, entertainment recommendations, Illuminati conspiracies - anything is fair game.

Just ask your questions in the comment section and I'll respond in kind. I'll keep answering in this post as long as it remains on the front page of the blog.

*No Googling.

Never forget.

The beat was weak.

So the new iPods were announced today at Apple's "The Beat Goes On" event. Since my current iPod's storage capacity will be hitting critical mass soon, I was particularly interested. Well, color me a bit underwhelmed. The phone-less iPhone (a.k.a. the Touch) seems cool, what with the wifi and all, but the 16GB storage is a joke. It looks like the 160GB "iPod Classic" just may be a Christmas present to myself in a few months.

Oh, and for those that bought an iPhone within the last couple of months (before the announcement of today's $200 price drop): that's what you get for being rabid members of the Cult of Mac.

We could be heroes

Since there was no "Law & Order" marathon today (what up wit dat, TNT?), I programmed my own marathon: "Heroes". As I said in my last post, I ditched the show mid-season because it conflicted with the start of "24"...and that was a mistake. This first season of "Heroes" kicked all sorts of ass. I'm jazzed to check out all of the online graphic novels tomorrow.

As for season two, I wouldn't mind if the Nikki/Jessica character didn't return. Don't get me wrong; Ali Larter provides some great eye candy. Her storyline and powers just weren't all that interesting. The best thing about her was that she had a son named "Micah".

Had I thought about it, I would've blogged while I watched, similar to what I did for the Matrix movies. Maybe I'll do that for some of the other TV DVD sets out this week ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", "The Office", "30 Rock"). But probably not.

Crush of the Week: Kristen Bell

This week's Crush is actress Kristen Bell. I never watched the show, but she played teenage sleuth on "Veronica Mars". Recently I learned that she's actually 27 years old, making me feel considerably less creepy.

Cute, nerdy chicks rule.

She'll be appearing on multiple episodes of "Heroes" this season, a show I ditched midway through last season because it conflicted with "24". That was a bad decision in hindsight, given how piss poor Jack Bauer's sixth season turned out to be. Anyway, I'm catching up on "Heroes" on DVD now.
