"Boxing's been good to me, Howard"

To coincide with the DVD release of Rocky Balboa - and to produce some much-needed blog filler - here is some music* on my iPod that deals with boxing, however tenuous.

"Boxing" - Ben Folds Five
"The Greatest" - Cat Power
"The Boxer" - Simon & Garfunkel
"Second Round K.O." - Canibus
"Boxers" - Morrissey
Fight Club soundtrack
Everything on House of Pain's Same As It Ever Was (for its cover)
All of Coolbone's Brass-Hop (their MC is Muhammad Ali's cousin)

That pretty much covers it.

*Exluding the soundtracks for the six Rocky movies.

Micah, I might suggest you add "Great White Hope" by Styx, if you can find it.

I can dig Ben Folds, and, of course, Simon and Garfunkel are legends.

That Cat power album is fantastic…I would have to say my favorite track is either the title track, as you’ve chosen, or “Willie”.

Might I suggest picking up an album by a band called "Stars"...The title I just ordered is called "Light Yourself On Fire".

cheers

p.s. Styx has a place on any list, anywhere, any time.

Thank you, Dr. Zeius.

dubin - I'll always make room for a lil' Styx. By far Tommy Shaw's best group (sorry, Nuge).

Dr. Zeius - It's been a while since I listened to Cat Power's album in its entirety, but I think the title track and "Islands" are my favorite songs. I'll have to check out Stars. Thanks for the tip.
