Clearly, I'm trying to tackle a leprechaun infestation.

Or I just need a shoe rack.

No offense, but I don't see any reason for a man to own that many shoes.

I have a shoe rack in my closet, but my shoes still end up lined up (or more likely, piled up) by the door.

dr. z - in an age where some men have sneaker collections, Micah's cute pile of shoes is wholly unremarkable.

micah - stop blogging and hit up your local target. shoe racks are cheap and easy to assemble.

srah - same problem here (only my shoes are probably a lot bigger than yours.) I ended up putting a shoe rack by the door.

dr. zeius - Well, I'll break them down for you:

1 pair of athletic shoes - for athletic stuff
2 pairs of flip-flops - one pair is on its way out; good for summer
1 pair of sandals - when you want flip-flops, but need arch support
1 pair of Jack Purcells - to look all hipstery
3 pairs of Simple sneaks - casual work shoes; experts say you'll get more life out of them if you don't wear them every day
1 pair of black Doc Martens - a step up from casual work sneaks
2 pairs of brown leather shoes - see above
1 pair of black wingtips (not pictured) - for more formal, suit-y occasions

srah - So. you're saying all of our actions in life are futile?

SBN1 - I'm going to "Hellboy 2" today, so I may hit up Target while I'm over there. And I picture your place to be decked out dojo-style. The shoes-by-the-door thing is confirming my notion.

Addendum to the reply to Dr. Zeius - I have about 5 or 6 other pairs that I didn't mention because they get less wear (yardwork shoes, beach flip-flops, old athletic shoes, etc.).

See this old post.
