Office chatter

It's confirmed: come February 2009, NBC will air a spin-off of "The Office." I'm torn about this news. Even though some people hated the hour-long episodes, I was always of the mindset that there was no such thing as too much "Office." But I fear that they may be spreading themselves a bit too thin with two shows.

I'm curious as to who (and where) this spin-off will revolve around. I'd hate to see the Scranton branch split up for the sake of having two shows. But if the new show centers around Karen in the Utica branch or Ryan at corporate headquarters, then that may work. We'll just have to wait and see.

Also of note in NBC's announcement is that "Scrubs" is not on the '08-'09 schedule, so I assume that the rumors of the show's move to ABC are true. Hooray!

It was supposed to be until the writers strike messed things up. The producer was/is adament about giving the show a proper send-off and didn't think that could be done with a shortened season. There was talk during the strike that they would do straight-to-DVD episodes if they had to.

I guess he figures that ABC - which doesn't have a strong line up of comedies - will be different from NBC and give the show the proper attention that deserves. Still, I would think next year will be its last.
