Crush of the Week: Kasey Chambers

This week I'm in love with Aussie country singer Kasey Chambers. She's got two great albums (I haven't heard the new one) that showcase one helluva voice. You may have heard her and not know it - her song "The Captain" was in the closing credits of an episode of The Sopranos. Go out and buy her stuff right now. DO IT!

Her song "Am I Not Pretty Enough" begs the answer, "you're more than fine."

She sang "The Captain?" Cool.

Yeah. It's on her first album, titled appropriately enough "The Captain." I think the song is also on "The Sopranos" soundtrack, but I don't have that CD so I'm not sure.

I have the cd somewhere. Maybe somebody borrowed it, I'm not sure.

I was just listening to her "Barricades and Brick Walls" while shaving. Man, is it great.

"Iron bars and big ole cars won't run me out of town/I'll be damned if you're not my man before the sun goes down" - menacing, but oddly appealing. Love her determination.

"There are many girls, but I can't say/They come and go but still I feel this way" - when she sings those lines from Gram Parsons' immortal "Still Feeling Blue," the song takes on a whole new life (and gets me tingly down there)

Man, I do love that pic. Got any more?

That's from the cover of her "Barricades and Brick Walls" album, but that one's black and white. Her hair's longer now, but this era (2002) is when I think she looked the best.

Do a Google or Yahoo! image search on her and you'll find some more pics.

Too much effort. I want instant gratification.

Jeez. Just do a search and then gratify yourself.
