No more bottles of red, bottles of white

Billy Joel has entered a rehab clinic for alcohol abuse. Personally, I think he just couldn't keep up with with his cutie patootie young wife (who is 31 years younger than him). She'd wear out any old fart. Billy Joel: a true American hero*.

*Disregarding "River of Dreams" and all other musical works thereafter.

I'm a closet Joel fan.

OK I finally got logged in. Joel's work has suffered since the aforementioned album, but I've known he has had some type of substance abuse problem since he's wrecked his car the past three or four times. There had to be something behind those accidents...I blame Christy.

By Christy I of course meant his former wife, not the poster above me :)

Christy - No need to be ashamed of liking Joel. I'm out of the closet and flaming with regards to my enjoyment of his pre-River of Dreams work.

spydrz - That's what he gets for chasing uptown girls.

I saw Billy w/Elton John a few years ago, and Billy blew Elton's set away. Drunk or not, he's a hell of a showman.

I keep discovering new "favorite" Billy Joel songs. His catalogue goes DEEP. Most recent new favorite: "Vienna". A truly awesome song. Steal it from your favorite online source. You shan't regret it.

My knowledge of his catalog doesn't go much deeper than his greatest hits (although I have heard my siblings' copies of The Stranger, Stormfront, and Glass Houses in their entirety). I've gotta say the titular song of this post is my current fave. (That'd be "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" to the Joel illiterate)

The kids in my high school had some sort of weird obsession with Billy Joel. We all (at least the WASPs) loved him. Our prom song was "Time to Remember". I must say I even liked that song, "Lullaby" off River of Dreams.

So, I hope Billy kicks his nasty habit so he can keep making music (or at least singing the old stuff that I really like).

He who is called Marshall and I waited in line for 16 hours to get tickets when Billy took his classical material to college campuses Senior year. The bitch of it all? After all that waiting, I wasn't able to go.

Micah, I too am a fan of "Scenes". That song was one of the first things To (of ToJo fame) and I bonded over. The rest, as they say: history. Sniff.....

"Anthony's Song" is also a classic.
