A big shake-up from the last chart, due in no small part to my playing a bunch of songs on the Micahpalooza road trip this past weekend.

how does your top 25 always get so disparate? mine tend to primarily consist of one or two albums (LCD soundsystem's "Sound of Silver" and Derek Webb's "Ringing Bell", both relatively recently bought).

It's called "shuffle", baby. Sure, I listen to complete albums, but after a couple of spins I delete the songs I don't really care for. But having an artist dominate the chart isn't unheard of; just look at the Fratellis on the last chart (now that's a great disc).

I have the LCDS disc, but haven't really listened to it; don't have the Derek Webb one...yet. I do dig Mockingbird (which I got via his free download thingy).

I forgot to add that the #1 song on the chart has 9 plays, so that's quite a barrier to entry for a full album.

yeah, i'm such a completist, though. such an album hugger, i hate the idea of deleting songs i don't really hate (although g'n'r has got some stinkers on their debut.) b/c often i find some hidden jewels in there.

and just shuffling with well over 3000 songs is kinda difficult to find a stand-out...

woe is me.

I have close to 13k songs on my iPod and I still have tons of CDs to import at some point. Shuffling doesn't really make the individual play counts add up. If a song's on the chart, that means it's a particular fave.

I'm quickly running out of space, so deleting album filler is a necessity. There's speculation of a new iPod announcement on Sept. 5. If there's a significant storage upgrade, I'll consider making the leap (provided I can find funds).

apparently, it'll have a similar interface as the iPhone, which would be cool.
