"And the Kanye Award for Most Uniformed Diatribe goes to..."

Because I have no social life (hovering around the poverty line will do that to you), I'll be watching the multi-network "Shelter from the Storm" telethon tonight. The producers don't plan on stopping any political statements, should an artist deviate from the script.

I'll be playing my own little drinking game. One shot for any apparel with a political message on it. Two shots for verbal statements. I'll drink a whole keg if anyone says, "Kathleen Blanco doesn't care about black people." (Face it - that ain't gonna happen.)

EDIT: Whoops! I missed the first 20 minutes, thinking it was going to start at 9. Did I miss anything?

Interestingly, the people most interested in donating their time/money/houses/cars to the storm victims are the same people who don't want to hear the $hit coming from this West dude's mouth.

I wonder how much $$$ he cost the Red Cross. He's entitled to his opinion, but there's a time and place and that was neither.

did i miss something? i heard a bad mix of his song, about half of it bleeped out (please, i still love the beat, but honestly, i'm through with its flip-flopping 'have it your way' attitude), and a little bit of him doing a lame put-myself-in-their-shoe-gazing "rap".

if anything, he's been more somber and laid back since Katrina. imagine p. diddy in his shoes (boat or die, sucka!)

Yeah, I caught Kanye's performance. I love the song and all, but I wish he would've done something new. As for the rest of the show: I can't stand Mariah's squeals, Paul Simon can't do a good falsetto anymore, and the Dixie Chicks' singer's voice gets on my nerves. All the lionizing of Kurt Cobain, but Dave Grohl was really The Man in Nirvana. Was that Malcom Jamal Warner singing back-up for Garth Brooks? Hmmm...that's about all I can remember.

Hey, jasdye - I don't have your e-mail, so you didn't get an invite, but I am having a free online Micah World online college ball pool. E-mail me (jmblya@gmail.com) and I'll send you the details. Picks must be made before 11:55 am EST tomorrow, so you gotta hurry if you want in.

Oh, yeah - "boat or die." That's hilarious!

I avoided it like the plague. There was perfectly good TV on FX. Plus, I had to wash the milk off my coveralls...apparently it was kindergarten day at the dairy barn.

yeah, i don't think that was jamal warner (best known, of course, for his role as 'malcolm' in the brilliant if short-lived 'malcolm & eddy'). but that was robert randolph being wasted behind the dixie chicks.

and alicia keys has time and again, i think, proved her mettle (even if i'm not so crazy about it). but she proved also that the younger generation just hasn't a clue when it comes to gospel. thank you and God bless you, Shirley Caeser.

Everyone forgets FOX's very-short-lived "Malcolm Jamal Warner In The Middle."

Dubin - "King of the Hill" marathon? Yeah, I was watching that...and then they cut into the telethon. I'll tell you what.

jasdye - I don't think I can name one Alicia Keys song. But she is purty.

Personally, I think Malcom Jamal Warner should've performed "Jammin' on the One" with Stevie Wonder...and then break into "Higher Ground." (too soon?)

you don't know my name? i'm falling. oh no...

actually, she does good music. for some reason, i just haven't had a need to spend money on her.

'higher ground' i know. but who is this 'jammin' on the one' you speak of?

Don't tell me you haven't seen one of the most classic episodes of "The Cosby Show" where Claire and the kids visit Stevie Wonder in the studio. SW records them talking and uses the samples in an improtou jam. Theo's part was him saying "jammin' on the one."

Classic.

ohhhhh...

was stevie wonder another one of their uncles?

i'll always remember rudy coming down the stairs in that ray charles song, though.
